Have you ever found yourself questioning why you have to walk through fire…again? Experiencing the heat of trials is part of the process of navigating life, business, relationships, and athletic performance.
If you are walking through some fire in your life, fear not, for God promises in Isaiah 43:2 that you will make it through without getting burned.
“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and through the rivers, they will not overwhelm you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned or scorched, nor will the flame kindle upon you.”
This was a message from the Father that I needed clarity around today.
This year has been a year of testing through fire for me — tests of faith, tests of business direction, tests of my thinking. There have been deep waters and fire. There has been discomfort, disappointment, and at times discouragement. There has been life.
I have not been beaten down by the tests. I’ve been made stronger as a result of them. There is victory there, as well as answered prayer. I know God is preparing me for a special purpose, and for that I am grateful.
As I sit here writing to you, and thinking about this passage the Lord shared with me this morning, my perspective is shifting even further. There will be fire. That is not something I can avoid. But there is tremendous peace in it, and a desire to further embrace my time in the fire. I will not be burned while in it, but refined and made better by walking through it. And I will get through it, perhaps not as quickly as I might like at times.
In Corinthians 10:13 God promises that He will not allow me to face anything that I cannot endure with Him right alongside me. He always provides a way out, while giving me the strength and patience to be right where I am to achieve His purpose in my life.
Fire is not something to fear or dread. God doesn’t cause the fire, but He does use it to change us for the better. If there are to be more fiery trials in 2016 resulting in my growth, then I say…
